Generosity and support are at the center of our company culture here at Tallgrass Freight. We’re thankful to be the best freight brokerage in the nation. But hey, as the saying goes, “with great power comes great responsibility,” right? Now we’re no superheroes, but we still like to pay it forward.

As the holidays draw closer, we’re reflecting on our 2021 recipients and the joy of giving back. We’re pleased to share more about just some of the organizations we’ve supported this year. 

Scholarships

Here at Tallgrass Freight, not only are we proud of our roots but we’re also dedicated to contributing to the success of our future generations. To celebrate where we came from, we offer scholarships to students studying at the high schools of each of our co-owners, Damon Anderson and David Barnes. David attended Caney Valley High School in Caney, KS, and Damon attended Sumner Academy in Kansas City, Kansas. 

This year, we were able to provide six students the opportunity to buy necessary resources for their education that aren’t traditionally covered by institutional aid, such as textbooks and computers. We delight in rewarding high achievers and empowering them through education. It’s all about paying it forward.

KC CAN!

KC CAN! has a mission of making grants and undertaking projects that improve the quality of life of Kansas City’s children, with an emphasis on projects related to meeting basic needs, education, and wellness. As a volunteer organization, it is committed to making Kansas City a better place to live, both now and in the future. It makes a significant impact in our community by providing support to our children who need resources for a better living environment, needed resources and better opportunities. It was our privilege to sponsor KC CAN!’s 2021 Auction.

Shadow Buddies

Shadow Buddies is a children’s charity dedicated to illumination, compassion and emotional support through the education of children and adults regarding illness, disability or medical treatments. The mission of the Shadow Buddies Foundation is to provide emotional support through education regarding illness, disability or medical treatments. The foundation accomplishes this goal through unique programs designed to enhance the lives of children and adults. In pursuit of that mission, the foundation raises funds, develops new programs and builds relationships between organizations with similar goals. We were glad to partner with this organization in achieving its mission.

KC Hospice & Palliative Care

The mission of KC Hospice & Palliative Care is to bring expert care, peace of mind, comfort, guidance and hope to people who are affected by life-limiting illness or by grief. With 8+ programs, including grief and healing services, KC Hospice & Palliative Care has been able to support an estimated 20,000 children, teens and adults who’ve been impacted by the death of a loved one. Tallgrass was proud to be a sponsor for the organization’s annual “Sunday Night Live” fundraiser this year!

Salvation Army

The Salvation Army exists to meet human needs wherever, whenever, and however possible. By assessing the needs of each community, building programs to offer relief and investing in spiritual, physical, and emotional services, it’s able to reach disaster survivors, people in need of food and shelter, people facing poverty, those overcoming addiction, veterans, the unemployed, the elderly, victims of domestic abuse and more. With a national and international presence, the Salvation Army touches and supports people around the globe and in our community.

Being the best starts with providing the best support, both in the office and in the community. We’re so grateful for the opportunity to give back generously, as individuals and as a company. We’re big on treating people like people, and that doesn’t change outside of our day to day work.
