10 Reasons We’re Thankful at Tallgrass Freight Co.

Tis the season for gratitude! With Thanksgiving around the corner, we’re reflecting on all we have to be thankful for. And we have plenty of reasons to be grateful! We’re excited to share the top 10 reasons we’re thankful for this year here at Tallgrass Freight.

10. Our leadership “Dream Team”

Like our COO David Barnes often says, “To truly go to the next level, you have to surround yourself with good people — people who are better at things than you are. That’s the ideal way to get bigger and better.” That’s why we’re grateful for the professionals we humbly call our “Dream Team” here at Tallgrass Freight. While every agent in our network is independent, no one is ever truly flying solo. This is why our Dream Team is so important as we reach new heights. Meet the men and women who define our Dream Team.

9. Our farmhouse roots

No matter what, we’ll never forget where we came from. The first Tallgrass Freight office was in  a farmhouse outside Leavenworth, KS, with a small-but-mighty team. We’re grateful for our roots and where the Tallgrass Freight story started.

8. Our new office in Scottsdale, Arizona

2019 was a year of growth in many ways, including office expansion. We opened the doors to our second brick-and-mortar office in Scottsdale, Arizona, in September 2019, the result of years of hard work. We’ve been laser-focused on developing a phenomenal leadership team, and with great players in place, expanding to a new office was the ideal next step. (And, let’s be honest, our agents in the Kansas office will be jealous of the Arizona sun when our first big snowstorm hits this winter!)

7. Driven agents, and sweeping the awards again

We’re humbled to have a team of driven freight agents who hustle each day to achieve big success. In 2019, our team once again swept the awards, both multiple local and national, each celebrating our exponential growth. And while we’re proud of every achievement, we’re far prouder of the professionals who have gotten us here. We’re thankful to have been spotlighted in 2019 for the following awards:

  • Inc. 5000
  • Fast 50, Kansas City Business Journal
  • Corporate Report 100
  • Fastest-Growing Logistics Companies, Kansas City Business Journal

6. Company culture

At Tallgrass Freight, “company culture” is more than a buzzword. We’re a team of dedicated, driven people who treat each other with respect and share a goal of building something remarkable. We say what we mean, mean what we say, treat people with kindness and see the best in each other. We work hard, we play hard and put people first, always. We’re grateful to enjoy fun events throughout the year, from our Club 200 sales celebration in Las Vegas to our summer family picnic and our epic Christmas party. We’re counting down to the big party coming up in December!

5. Our monthly State of the Unions . . .

With agents across the country, it takes a little extra effort to keep us all connected. That’s why we’re thankful for our monthly State of the Union team gatherings. Our team is stronger when we’re all in the loop. We keep things pretty casual around Tallgrass Freight, but this structured company update lays groundwork for us to build together.

4. . . and the amazing lunches we share afterwards.

Two words: smoked meat. Need we say more? We’re always thankful when our COO, David Barnes, puts our office Traeger smoker to work!

3. Work-life balance

Achieving work-life balance is no small feat. But we’re thankful for an environment where it’s no longer out of reach. Here at TGF, we have the opportunity to really find that balance. That’s one of the perks of being your own boss and having the support of a strong team. Being a Tallgrass Freight agent means you work hard and find success on your terms. And that’s something to really be thankful for.

2. Friendly competition

We’re thankful for a team that digs a little friendly competition! Our agents have opportunities to participate in multiple sales contests throughout the year. Recently, our agents won 65” flat screen TVs, Microsoft Surface Pro laptops, Traeger Grills, gift cards and cash prizes. And then there’s our always-exciting Club 200 celebration, when we commemorate our top sales performers with a trip to Las Vegas.
