As a Recruiting Manager, Chicago-based Kevin Brewer has the unique opportunity to help individuals build a thriving future here at Tallgrass Freight. “One of my mentors always told me, ‘If you help people pay their bills, your bills will be paid too. And if you help people fulfill their dreams, your dreams will be fulfilled too,’” Kevin says. The opportunity to help others reach their goals has always fueled Kevin’s passion for recruiting.
Kevin grew up in Metropolis, Illinois (yes, the home of Superman himself), and attended the University of Southern Illinois. He was in the midst of establishing his own business when he was approached with an enticing offer to transition into the transportation and logistics recruiting space. Ever since, he’s been nurturing relationships and helping people in the logistics field achieve upward mobility in their careers.
“People and relationships have always been at the center of my universe. I want to feel hearts and minds. I want to feel a sense of community. And from my very first conversation with Tallgrass, it was clear they value the same things I do.”
The cohesive, family environment and TGF’s company culture ultimately drove Kevin to join the TGF team. His days are spent making new connections, vetting potential candidates and introducing people to the unparalleled opportunity waiting for them at Tallgrass Freight. “Getting to know the people here helped make my decision to come to Tallgrass a no-brainer,” he says. “And that’s the type of confidence and inspiration I hope to instill in others.”
The authentic, supportive environment at Tallgrass is something Kevin believes is truly special about the company. When he’s not on the hunt for new talent, Kevin enjoys cheering on Chicago sports teams, singing, listening to music (his go-to choices: Andrea Bocelli, the Rat Pack or Wu-Tang Clan), and cooking. Lemon zested halibut with quinoa and broccolini is just one of his many culinary creations in his Chicago kitchen, where he lives with his significant other, Tamara, and his son.
