As a Senior Agent Recruiter, Chris Moore introduces potential team members to the Tallgrass ecosystem, illustrating why our unparalleled culture is an ideal environment to build a thriving freight broker career. “Recruiting has been a part of my professional career my entire life,” Chris shares. “It’s not only fulfilling, meaningful work, but I love the daily exposure to different individuals and personalities.”

While Chris is a relative newcomer to the freight and logistics field, he’s a veteran in the recruitment world. Born and raised in La Porte, Indiana, Chris began his career as the Director of Admissions role at La Lumiere, a boarding and day school in Indiana founded by his father in 1963. It was there he fell in love with recruiting. From La Lumiere, he continued recruiting at schools around the country, including outside Chicago, Massachusetts and Arizona.

“What I enjoy most about recruiting is, at the end of the day, you can walk out the door knowing you helped someone.”

Chris then segued into an Athletic Recruiting role with NCSA as a National Head Scout, drawing on his 20+ years as a competitive soccer athlete. After continuing his career as the Legal Recruiting Manager for Robert Half, Chris took an opportunity with Beacon Hill Staffing Group. Chris had only begun leading a team to establish Arizona’s market presence and open a regional office when the COVID-19 pandemic struck, putting the launch of the new office on an indefinite hold.

What transpired from there was a big win for all parties involved, as Chris became part of the Tallgrass Freight family. “Because of my educational upbringing, I find myself naturally drawn to learning new industries,” he says. “I find myself excited to wake up and dig into the logistics world each and every single day!”

Tallgrass immediately stood out to Chris because of the company culture. “From a cultural perspective, Tallgrass is spot on,” he says. “Everyone I’ve met, from the interview process on forward, is exceptional. I also feel inherently aligned with Tallgrass’s Midwestern roots. What I enjoy most about recruiting is, at the end of the day, you can walk out the door knowing you helped someone. That’s always the silver lining.”

Outside of work, Chris is happily married and a proud father of a grown daughter and son, who both share his passion for athletics and professional drive. A self-proclaimed life-long Grateful Dead fan, Chris says music was a large part of his upbringing and remains something he’s passionate about to this day. He is also an avid cycler, biking between 70 and 80 miles per week.

I own a dance studio!

As Senior Agent Recruiter, Kayla Hall-Johnson’s mission is to show potential team members how Tallgrass Freight offers all the tools necessary for success. “We’re going to support you like a family does,” Kayla explains. “No matter your background, once you fall under the Tallgrass Freight umbrella, you are treated with respect.”

Kayla attended the University of Kansas to study communications and loved being part of the dance team as a Rock Chalk dancer. After launching her career in sales, Kayla transitioned into recruiting and became a National Sales Recruiter. In that role, Kayla was named one of the corporation’s top 20 recruiters.

What brought Kayla to Tallgrass Freight was the culture. “I was sold on the fact that I’m offering freedom to freight agents at TGF,” Kayla says. “You can come in and work as much as you want, make money and have a family backing you up.”

“No matter your background, once you fall under the Tallgrass Freight umbrella, you are treated with respect.”

Kayla spends her days engaged in active recruiting, constantly reaching out to candidates who would be ideal additions to the Tallgrass Freight Agent team. With a fast-paced environment and plenty of goals, there’s never a dull moment — and Kayla likes it that way!

After work, Kayla shares her passion for dance as a dance teacher, working with children ages 4 – 18 at a local dance studio. She also loves spending time with her two dogs and seeing her family as much as possible.
