Tallgrass Freight Continues Tradition of Annual Scholarships

Giving back is more than something to cross off our Tallgrass Freight Company to-do list. Instead, helping others in our community is a key part of our company culture. And this year, we’re thrilled to continue one of our favorite annual traditions: awarding scholarships to deserving high school seniors.

As they continue to build a thriving business, our CEO, Damon Anderson, and COO, David Barnes, credit their education for helping to give them the tools to succeed. As a way to say thanks, Damon and David award annual scholarships to seniors at the high schools they attended: Sumner Academy of Arts & Science in Kansas City, Kan., and Caney Valley High School in Caney, Kan.

This year, we opted to change things up a bit. Instead of establishing a number of winners before we received applications, we opted to base the number of scholarships on our pool of nominations.

Talk about a difficult choice! We heard from some truly impressive students who all have bright things ahead of them. After much deliberation, we decided to award two students at each school with a $500 scholarship each, for a total contribution of $2,000.

We’re so excited to see what awaits these students. And we’re grateful to Sumner Academy and Caney Valley High School for letting us return each year to help students as they blaze their own paths to success.

To all of this year’s graduating seniors: congratulations and best of luck! If you’re interested in working in the freight industry, our door is always open!
