8 Reasons to Be Thankful at Tallgrass Freight Co.

It’s hard to believe it’s almost Thanksgiving, but if you’re anything like our team, you’ve been counting down to the holiday feast (especially the pie!) for the last couple weeks!

As we spend time this week gathering with family and friends and celebrating the Thanksgiving holiday, we wanted to take advantage of the opportunity to also share why all of us at Tallgrass Freight Company—especially our rockstar network of freight agents—are so thankful to be here. So, without further ado, here are 8 reasons to be thankful at Tallgrass:

1. No Unexpected Comp Plan Changes
Changes to your compensation plan—especially when they’re unexpected—can be incredibly stressful. And at Tallgrass, we’re thankful we don’t have to deal with the uncertainty! Instead, our comp plans are contractually locked in, so you know exactly what you’re getting. Our comp plan also includes health benefits, which gives our freight agents peace of mind and the freedom to focus on what they do best: growing their business and delivering superior transportation and logistic solutions.

2. Your Accounts Belong to You
You’ve worked tirelessly to build your book of business—and those accounts should stay with you. At Tallgrass, our freight agents are assured that their accounts belong to them, liberating them from the stress of worrying that their accounts might be lured away.

3. You’re the Boss!
Is there anything better than being your own boss? Well, sure—but it definitely ranks up there! Part of what we’re most thankful for at Tallgrass is the independence to run our own businesses, backed by the security of the Tallgrass team. Here, every agent is their own boss, free to grow their own business and earning potential (more on that in a minute). And behind the scenes, our first-class team handles each agent’s back office operations. So, really, you’re the boss—but without much of the stress that other bosses encounter. Sounds like a win to us!

4. Your Career, Your Earning Potential
The independence of being your own boss—and building your own business—also includes the ability to set your own earning potential. In other words, the only limit on your earnings is, well, you! We’re grateful for that flexibility and for the continual push to challenge ourselves and see what we can accomplish. Plus, we have the means to provide for ourselves and our loved ones, and although it sounds cliché, it’s true—that’s a feeling that money can’t buy.

5. A Quota-Free Zone
There are the (sometimes) mundane tasks you need to complete to keep your business running smoothly. And then there are the needless tasks like quotas or call counting that eat up valuable time without delivering much—if any—ROI. At Tallgrass, we’re grateful to have kicked quotas and call-counting to the curb. There are other, smarter ways to grow a book of business and ensure an optimal revenue stream, and that’s what we want to prioritize.

6. Thrive in a Start-Up Culture
We’ve mentioned the entrepreneurial nature of our freight agent network, and that includes a start-up culture that enables hard work (and a little fun, too!) There’s an energy to start-ups that tends to fade with more established companies, yet we work tirelessly to maintain an energetic, innovative culture. That’s the best sort of company culture in which to encourage forward-thinking, and that’s what keeps our agents—and our company—industry leaders.

7. We’re Growing—Fast
It’s rewarding to be part of something successful, isn’t it? Earlier this year, Tallgrass made Inc. magazine’s list of 500 of America’s fastest growing private companies, recognition we don’t take lightly. There’s no doubt the transportation and logistics industry is a crowded one, but we’re committed to being the best and showing both our customers and our freight agents why working with Tallgrass is a can’t-miss opportunity.

8. Our Agents Matter
Have you had a job in which you feel like a number instead of a valued employee? That sort of morale- and productivity-sapping environment is exactly what we want to avoid. Instead, our agents aren’t just, well, agents—they’re stakeholders in our success. We regularly solicit their feedback to identify opportunities for improvement, then we work together to make Tallgrass an even better place to work. They say there’s strength in numbers, and looking at our growing freight agent network, we couldn’t agree more.

It’s clear that we have an abundance of gratitude to celebrate—the aforementioned list is just a start. And to help spread that feeling of thankfulness, the Tallgrass family is pitching in to collect donations for The Salvation Army and Safehome, a Kansas-based organization that offers support for survivors of domestic violence. It’s important to us to not only make Tallgrass a wonderful place to work and do business, but to also do what we can to make a positive impact on our community.

From all of us at Tallgrass Freight Company, have a wonderful Thanksgiving. And if you need a place to share leftovers, well, we’re here for you!
