KANSAS CITY, MO. (Jan. 16, 2018)—Since its founding in 2012, Tallgrass Freight has been on a focused path to success. The last year brought the achievement of several milestones for the Kansas City-based logistics solution provider, setting the stage for even more growth in 2018.
The global logistics industry continues to navigate challenges and technology-driven changes. Yet closer to home, Tallgrass Freight has emerged as a reliable full-service option for clients, while also equipping freight agents with entrepreneurial tools and support to help them grow their businesses.
That dually focused approach continues to resonate with both customers and freight agents, and as a result, Tallgrass Freight continues to experience rapid growth. Company highlights throughout 2017 include:
Employee growth, expanded offices
Throughout the last year, Tallgrass Freight welcomed more than 20 new agents and employees. To prepare for that growth, Tallgrass moved into a new office space in Shawnee with 4,600 square feet to grow into. Just one year later, the company filled that space and recently expanded into another 4,600 square feet on the building’s second floor.
Inc. Magazine’s 500
As a result of Tallgrass Freight’s continued growth, the company made Inc. Magazine’s 2017 list of 500 of America’s fastest-growing private companies.
“We’ve had a staggering 1,066% growth in the past three years and are listed as the 22nd fastest growing logistics company in the U.S., as well as the third fastest growing company in the state of Kansas,” says Damon Anderson, Founder and CEO, Tallgrass Freight.
New steering committee
To encourage the company’s freight agent network to prioritize communication and feedback and ensure the best career opportunity possible, Tallgrass Freight kicked off a new steering committee initiative in fall of 2017.
The committee is comprised of four freight agents and the company’s executive leadership and meets quarterly to share and discuss ideas, feedback and opportunities for improvement. Then, Tallgrass leadership evaluates the discussion topics and commits to an action plan so that agents and employees can see their input in action.
“Our freight agent network is a partnership,” says David Barnes, COO, Tallgrass Freight. “You’re not working for Tallgrass Freight. You’re working with us.”
What’s ahead in 2018
Barnes and the Tallgrass Freight team have no plans to slow down in 2018. The company will continue focusing on rapid expansion throughout the year, building on the momentum of 150% growth from the end of 2016 to the end of 2017. Specific growth goals include:
- Add 40 new agents and employees
- Double the company’s revenue
