Kristen Gile has always been driven by one thing: helping people. After graduating from Kansas State University in 2018 with a degree in social work, she began her career working with children in the foster care system before moving into home health and hospice care. While those roles were deeply meaningful, Kristen eventually found herself ready for something new — and that search led her to Tallgrass Freight.
“I had heard so many positive things about the culture, work environment and the people,” Kristen shares. That reputation for community and support is what ultimately drew her in, and what keeps her excited to come to work every day.
As Operations Manager, Kristen thrives in Tallgrass’s fast-paced environment and values the relationships she’s built with her team. She appreciates that her teammates are not only willing to support one another but also eager to teach.
“The relationships I have are amazing. I can always reach out and get help. Everyone is willing to answer questions.”
What stands out most to Kristen is the sense of community. “It’s comfortable here. You always feel supported,” she says. That feeling of belonging has allowed her to grow confidently into her role and lean into what she enjoys most: teaching others and watching them grow. Seeing her teammates catch on to new processes and grow into their responsibilities is what motivates her every day.
When she’s not working, Kristen enjoys spending time with friends and family and getting outdoors whenever she can. You’ll often find her taking her dog, Kora, out for walks and soaking up fresh air and sunshine.
