I’m fluent in the language of memes!
John Ruf, Vice President of Information Technology, discovered his fascination for multimedia and computers during his studies at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. After completing his degree in computer science with an emphasis in software engineering, John has held a wide variety of IT positions and leadership roles, including working on application development, meme creation (yes, you read that right!), healthcare programs and even owning a consulting firm.
“I came to Tallgrass because the culture is great and there’s an opportunity for consistent growth,” says John. “I’m really happy to be here.”
At Tallgrass Freight, John’s work consists of establishing programs to support our CRM technology, ensuring systems are safe and secure, building out new features and working to create an enterprise architecture that will continue to propel TGF forward technologically. “Working with the CRM is a delight,” says John. “Not only is the application well built from a code perspective, but it’s stellar from a business perspective.” And John is driven to continuously make our system better than ever.

John’s favorite aspect about Tallgrass is the leadership team. “I have so much trust in the leaders here,” John says. “I think they do a great job at steering the ship.”
Whether John is (or isn’t!) writing code and programming software at work, you can bet he’s jamming out to his favorite tunes — and he might be one of Spotify’s top users! John loves to curate playlists to enjoy throughout the day, constantly exploring new genres and new artists. John is also an avid gamer, and enjoys solving Rubix cubes and challenging puzzles.
