With more than 20 years of experience in recruiting, Leslie Small loves the rewarding feeling of introducing new freight agents to Tallgrass and watching them thrive in their role. “I start with an open position and I make it my goal to fill it with the ideal candidate,” Leslie says. “Once the goal is achieved, it’s a fantastic win on both sides.”

Leslie’s recruitment career began while she worked in retail and was approached about recruiting new employees for the store. After accepting the challenge, she found her passion:recruiting new talent. Moving from sales to talent acquisition, Leslie worked within several industries before landing in logistics.

“The word I would use to describe Tallgrass is fresh. There is such a fresh feel and fresh approach here. In other logistics companies, people become robotic. But here, everyone loves what they are doing and they are open to constantly improving. It’s just so attractive for me.”

Leslie was looking for a company she believed in, and that’s what brought her to Tallgrass. “For me, recruiting is selling the opportunity, selling the company to a qualified candidate. I wanted to find a company that allowed me to bring my full skillset, and a company I could be proud to bring to potential candidates.” And she’s found exactly that at Tallgrass.

Leslie’s favorite thing about Tallgrass is the team’s approach. “Everyone I talk to is direct as far as business, expectations and growth potential, but also extremely friendly, open and genuine.”

Leslie is based out of Chicago, Illinois, and loves spending time with her daughter, as well as her four-legged family: four chihuahuas and a cat! She enjoys staying busy outside of work by attending concerts, sporting events, festivals and visiting wineries. She is also involved with her community by volunteering with animal rescue organizations and shelters.
